Palacio’s beloved novel “Wonder,” is a wonderful young boy who defies expectations and inspires those around him.

Auggie Savage’s story is one of strength and relationship building and the simple fact is that none of us are alone. Nevertheless, having these problems of movement that are physically manifested, he wants to live a full life. For the first time, in the fifth grade, he goes to a regular school trying to become accepted based on what is inside of him. Despite his appearance, Auggie is a curious, intelligent, and witty child. He loves video games, science fiction, and spending time with his family. His parents, Isabel and Nate, are incredibly supportive and dedicated to providing him with a normal childhood.

Auggie’s journey to middle school is a transformative experience. He faces both cruelty and kindness from his classmates, but ultimately finds a few true friends who accept him for who he is. Through his interactions with others, Auggie learns valuable lessons about empathy, compassion, and the importance of seeing beyond appearances.

Different students have slightly different reactions ranging from judging him based on the clothes he wears to running towards him to hug him. Family is one of the most important connections in Auggie’s life play an important role in the book. His parents Olivia and Nate do not disown him and instead provide their full support to him. Olivi, his older sister at first detests him for being ugly but at the end of tale she relents.

All the perspectives of the novel’s characters are linked with Auggie’s point of view and the stories of other characters in his life. It makes it possible for the readers to arrive at a deeper appreciation of the ways in which his presence has bearing on the conduct of other people.
